The Post Carousel block allows you to pick a set of posts based on category, tags, or author, and display them in a slideshow.

To add a Post Carousel block, click on the block inserter icon to open the block library and select the Post Carousel block.

Alternatively, you can type /carousel on a new line and press Enter.

After inserting the block, you will find a slideshow of your most recent posts. In order to appear in the slideshow, posts must be published and have a featured image set. You can configure the Post Carousel block in the Block Settings.

It is important that you have published at least one post with a featured image. The Post Carousel block slideshow will be empty otherwise.

Block Settings

Every block has options in the editor sidebar. If you do not see the sidebar, click the Settings button (the ‘cog’ icon next to the Publish button).

The Post Carousel block has the following settings:

Display Settings
  • Number of items – controls how many posts will be displayed.
  • Authors – select which authors’ posts will be displayed.
  • Categories – show posts that share a specific category.
  • Tags – show posts that share a specific tag.

Slideshow Settings
  • Autoplay – controls whether the Post Carousel automatically switches slides (disabled by default).

Article Meta Settings
  • Show Date – controls whether the post date will be displayed.
  • Show Category – controls whether the post category will be displayed.
  • Show Author – controls whether the post author will be displayed.
  • Show Author Avatar – controls whether the post author’s avatar will be displayed.
