Troubleshooting Embed Links and Shortcodes
You can embed videos, maps, and many other types of content from many different sites, including YouTube, Vimeo, Facebook, Instagram, GitHub, CodePen, Instagram, Twitter, Speaker Deck, Viddler, Hulu, Wistia, Educreations, Houzz, and much more!
We do not support embeds containing iframes or Javascript due to security concerns unless you have a Business or eCommerce plan.
If your embed isn’t working, here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try.
Hyperlinks
You can tell if a URL is hyperlinked by clicking on it. When you click on the URL, if a link box with the option to edit appears (like in the screenshot below), it means your link is hyperlinked.

You can remove this hyperlink by clicking on the link icon in the toolbar once.
Single Line
Make sure to place the embed link or shortcode on its own line. This means there should be no text or whitespace before or after the link or shortcode.
Additional Formatting
Changing the alignment of your text (centering for example) or adding style elements will generate HTML formatting around the embed URL which will cause the embed not to work correctly. Try using a shortcode to correct things.
Full Profiles vs Individual Posts
You can embed posts from most popular social networks, including Facebook and Instagram. However, it’s not possible to embed profiles. For example:
❎ Not supported: https://www.facebook.com/WordPresscom/
✅ Supported: https://www.facebook.com/WordPresscom/posts/10158293614523980
❎ Not supported: https://www.instagram.com/wordpressdotcom/
✅ Supported: https://www.instagram.com/p/B-hfomaFX55/
Make sure you are pasting the URL to a specific post and not to an overall profile.
