About .br Domains

This page explains special requirements for domains with the .br extension.

Who can register .br domains?

While .br is the official country code top-level domain (ccTLD) for Brazil, only the second-level extension, .com.br, is available for registration here at WordPress.com.

Registrations

Registration of .com.br domains requires manual approval; therefore, it is asynchronous and can take up to 3 business days to process.

To register a new .com.br domain, please take the following steps:

1. Visit your site’s dashboard.
2. Navigate to Upgrades → Domains.
3. Click the “Add a domain” button and choose “Search for a domain”.
4. Click Select next to the domain you wish to register.
5. Continue through to the checkout screen and complete the purchase.
6. Wait for up to 3 days for your registration approval. You will be notified via email upon successful registration.

Transfers

Transferring to Another Registrar

There are a few steps involved in transferring a .br domain. To initiate the process, please contact us from the account/email that owns the domain.

Incoming Transfers

We do not currently accept incoming domain transfers for .br domains. Please use the Domain Connection option instead.

Whois and Privacy

WordPress.com uses Toweb Brasil as a trustee service for .com.br domains.

Private registration is not supported.
