About .app, .dev, and .page Domains

This page explains special requirements for domains with the .app, .dev, and .page extensions.

Who can register .app, .dev, and .page domains?

Anyone can register these domains.

Privacy Protection

Your registrant contact information is fully protected. In addition to Privacy Protection, which is included free of charge for all eligible domains registered at WordPress.com, the registry that operates these TLDs also includes registry privacy services. Although you can disable the WordPress.com Privacy Protection, it’s not possible to disable the registry privacy service. This means that it’s not possible for you to choose to expose your registrant contact data publicly.

SSL requirements

The registry requires you to have an SSL certificate to host a website using these TLDS. This requirement is not an issue if you host your domain here since we provide free SSL certificates. However, if you register the domain here and connect it elsewhere, you need to make sure you have an SSL certificate at your new host. The same applies if you choose to transfer the domain to another registrar.

Trademark Claims Service

If a party holds a trademark related to your domain, you must agree not to infringe on the trademark holders’ rights. You can read more about the Trademark Clearinghouse here.
