Linking Images in the Classic Editor

To insert a link using an image from your computer, follow these steps:

  1. Go to a post or page editing screen. Click the Add Media button.
  2. Upload a new image, or click the Media Library tab and click the image you’d like to use as a link.
  3. Click the Insert into post button.
  4. The image is inserted into your post.
  5. Select the image then click the link icon in the toolbar.

In the pop-up box that appears, enter the URL you want to link to:

  • URL: The URL of the link (include http:// at the start for external websites)
  • Open link in a new window/tab: If this box is checked clicking on your link will open up a new window/tab.

To insert a link using an image stored somewhere else on the Internet, follow these steps:

  1. Click the Add Media button.
  2. Click the Add Via URL link.
  3. Type the URL of the image file into the URL text box then click Upload.
  4. Edit as desired then Insert.

To add image links in your sidebar or widget area, use the Sidebar Image Widget. If you’d like more control over the content, you can add an image link using the Text widget, as well.
