If you connected an Instagram widget prior to March 31, 2020, you will need to log into your account and reconnect your Instagram widget.

1) Log into your account.
2) Go to My Site(s) → Appearance → Customize.
3) Click into the “Widgets” section.
4) Expand the “Instagram” widget.
5) Click “Connect Instagram Account.”
6) Follow the prompts to reconnect your Instagram account.
7) That’s it!

If for whatever reason you are unable to reconnect your Instagram account before Mar 31, no worries. We’ll simply hide this widget on the front-end of your site until you have a chance to reconnect.

The Instagram Widget allows you to display your latest Instagram posts in your site’s sidebar or footer. Want to add Instagram posts to your site’s main content instead? Check out Instagram Embeds.

Watch the video below for a quick overview of how the widget works, and read below for more examples and settings.

Here’s an example of what it looks like when using the Twenty Twelve theme:

The number of images and the number of columns are configurable. These configuration options are explained in more detail, below.

Authorizing Instagram Account Access

First, add the Instagram Widget to your site without authorizing it. You can do so by navigating to your Customizer, and selecting the Widgets option. Click Add a Widget, and select the Instagram Widget from the list.

At this point, click Save & Publish at the top of your Customizer.

Next, you can grant access to the Instagram account that you wish to display images from. You can only display images from an Instagram account that you own or otherwise have access to.

To do so, first log into your Instagram account in another tab in your browser. After logging into, return to the Instagram widget in your Customizer and click Authorize Instagram Access. This step grants access to your Instagram account, so we can retrieve your latest images.

Your Customizer will then reload, and you can return to the Instagram widget to configure its settings.

  • Authorized Account: This is the Instagram account that the widget is currently connected to. Click the “remove” link to remove the link and connect the widget to a different Instagram account.
  • Widget Title: The title to be displayed above your images. You can leave this blank if you want.
  • Images: This controls the number of images that will be displayed at once in your sidebar. It will showcase the most recently published images on your Instagram account.
  • Layout: The number of columns to display your images. The higher the number of columns, the smaller the images will be displayed.

When you’re finished, click Save & Publish and then visit your website to see your shiny, new Instagram widget!
