DNS Abuse

At WordPress.com we work hard to protect your account and your content. For information on our policies, how to keep your account secure, and how to report potential violations of our policies please consult our policy documentation.

To lodge a complaint related to the content of a website hosted on WordPress.com please review your options for Copyright and the DMCA.

What is DNS abuse?

DNS abuse is defined as “malicious activity aimed at disrupting the Domain Name System (DNS) infrastructure or causing the DNS to operate in an unintended manner”. This includes but is not limited to malware, botnets, and phishing.

WordPress.com DNS abuse complaints

We accept DNS abuse complaints exclusively via email at domainabuse [at] automattic.com. We track all written DNS abuse complaints via email threads. Other types of abuse are tracked via a ticketing system. Please ensure you reference the specific domain in your complaints or any follow up communication. Upon confirming a complaint is valid and complete, we will open an investigation into the matter and if necessary, take action to remediate the issue, or against the account perpetuating the abuse. Due to the volume of reports we cannot guarantee that complainants will get a response regarding resolution.
