Obtaining a Playlist URL

  1. Open your Spotify App.
  2. Click the three dots next to a playlist or a specific song.
  3. If you are using the Web app select Copy Playlist Link, or Copy Song Link.
  4. When using the Desktop app select Share → Copy Show Link.

Embedding via the WordPress Block Editor

  1. When in the editor click Add Block.
  2. Search for and select the Spotify block.
  3. Paste the link you copied from Spotify in the steps above.
  4. Click Embed to embed the Spotify playlist or song.

Embedding via the Classic Editor

Note: The instructions from this section are referring to the Classic Editor plugin on Business and eCommerce plan sites only.

From the editor, paste the URL you copied from Spotify in the steps above into the Classic Editor where you want the playlist or song to show. The URL will automatically be converted to the embedded player in the editor:

Embedding in a Widget

You can add a Spotify playlist or song in a widget so it appears on a sidebar or footer (depending on where your theme shows widgets).

  1. Go to Manage Customize → Widgets.
  2. Select the widget area you want the Spotify embed to show.
  3. Add a Widget and select the Text Widget.
  4. Type the Spotify shortcode spotify url, replacing url with the link you copied from Spotify, and surrounding the code with brackets [ ].
  5. Publish your changes.

  • Make sure the Spotify URL is not hyperlinked. If the URL is shown in your theme’s link color (as the second line in the screenshot below), then it is hyperlinked. Select the link and click the Remove icon to remove it.

    Once the URL is unlinked, you will see the link text in black.
  • Make sure to place the Spotify URL or shortcode on its own line. This means there should be no character or whitespace before or after the URL/shortcode.
