Add Email to Your Domain

Look professional and strengthen your brand with an email address for your domain. This guide will show you how to create a new email address (or multiple addresses) with your domain.

Set Up a Custom Email Address

If you have a domain (such as yourgroovydomain.com), you can create email addresses that use that domain (like info@yourgroovydomain.com and contact@yourgroovydomain.com.) The part before the @ symbol (like “info” or “contact”) can say anything at all. You can create one email address or multiple addresses, each with its own separate inbox.

To add a new email to your domain:

  1. Ensure you have a domain either registered or connected to WordPress.com.
  2. Visit your site’s dashboard.
  3. Navigate to Upgrades → Emails (or Hosting → Emails if using WP-Admin) to view and set up an email solution.
    • The price for each email solution will be shown in your currency.

Note that these steps and options are intended for creating a new email address with a new inbox. If you have an existing email service and want to continue using that inbox for your domain, you can review this guide for adding email through other providers.

At any time, only one of the email options mentioned in this guide can be active on your domain. Multiple email services on the same domain will not work.

Professional Email is an ideal option if you want an affordable, robust, hosted email solution with the ease of managing it from your WordPress.com account. Add this to your domain to take advantage of the following features:

Visit Upgrades → Emails (or Hosting → Emails if using WP-Admin) to view pricing (including a three-month free trial!) and set up your mailbox(es):

Google Workspace

We also partner with Google Workspace (formerly known as G Suite) for those who need a hosted email solution as well as the features and benefits of an office productivity suite (such as Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, and more.)

To add Google Workspace to a new or existing domain, visit our step-by-step guide.

If you already have a Google Workspace account, you can connect your Google Workspace account to your domain.

Visit Upgrades → Emails (or Hosting → Emails if using WP-Admin) to view pricing and set up Google Workspace:

Email Forwarding

If you do not need full email hosting, we offer email forwarding for free.

Email Forwarding lets you use your domain in your email address. All your mail will be forwarded to a personal email address you choose, and any replies will be sent from your personal email address.

For example, if your domain is yourgroovydomain.com, you can create an email address like hello@yourgroovydomain.com. Anyone can send an email to that address, and you will receive it at your personal email inbox like jane.doe@gmail.com. When you reply to an email, the recipient will see it as coming from jane.doe@gmail.com.

Email forwarding will not work in conjunction with a hosted email service like Professional Email or Google Workspace.

Visit our Email Forwarding guide to learn how to get set up.

Other Email Providers

If your domain name and DNS settings are managed at WordPress.com, you can purchase email hosting from any provider and connect your domain to it. Here are instructions for several popular providers:
