  • Edit Image: This button will open an editor where you can rotate or crop the image. Learn more.
  • Title: What the image is called. You can click on the title to edit it.
  • Caption: Enter a caption that will display below the image
  • Alt Text: Controls what text replaces the image in case of slow-loading sites, or for readers using screenreaders and other assistive technology.
  • Description: An optional description of the image that will display on the image’s attachment page (if you choose for the image to be linked to its attachment page).
  • URL: The full direct link to where the image is stored on your site. This cannot be changed.
  • At the bottom, you’ll see some information about your image: the image file name and type, the date the image was uploaded, and the image dimensions.
  • Delete: (on the bottom left) Clicking this will allow you to delete the image. This cannot be undone.

How the caption displays, as well as whether or not the image has a border, is a function of the theme you are using. If you have a plan that allows the use of Custom CSS, you can change the appearance of images using CSS.

Within Posts and Pages

You can also edit an already-uploaded image directly from the visual editor of a post or page using the Image block.

In the Image block toolbar, you can control the alignment, the link, and edit the image using crop, zoom, and aspect ratio settings.

In the Image block settings on the right, you’ll see options to change the image, including the dimensions, description, and more.

For more information on editing images in posts, see this documentation on the Image Block.
