He actively collaborates with international donors to enhance book and digital resource donations, supporting both Hawassa University (HU) and broader communities. With a strong focus on advancing information and digital literacy, Mulugeta is a passionate advocate for Open Access and scholarly communications, committed to promoting equitable access to knowledge. He also leads HU library outreach projects in Ethiopia's Sidama region, playing a pivotal role in expanding access to educational resources and technology. His dedication to advancing the role of libraries in education and research earned him the title of Librarian of the Month for August 2024 by the Librarian Spotlight Africa.
