My apologies if this is being posted in the wrong place but I’m having difficulty figuring out what I need to do.

I had an email address that was attached to a throwaway WordPress account that I did not even recognize, but I wanted to add that email address to my Gravatar account. To initiate this, I deleted the throwaway WordPress account. The results were… unexpected.

Adding it to my Gravatar account results in “This email is already connected to a Gravatar account.”

Trying to log in with it results in “You’re not allowed to request a login link for this account.”

So I can’t add it to Gravatar, and I can’t sign into WordPress with it… what now?

    Hi there,

So, when you delete an account, there is a 30-day period before the account is completely purged of its content, and that includes the connected email address. Therefore, the email won’t be available for another account for at least 30 days. We usually recommend changing the email address of the throwaway WordPress account to a throwaway email, which automatically frees the email you want to use.

Assuming it has not yet been 30 days, we can undelete the account for you so that you can proceed with freeing the email up for use with your new WordPress.com account. When you deleted your account, you should’ve received an email confirming its deletion. Just respond to that email saying that you want to reverse the deletion and the Account Recovery Team will take care of restoring your account for you.

Hope this helps. Please let us know if you have any questions.

Got it. I had a lot going on and didn’t read the deletion email carefully, but it does even say to reply if I need help. Will do that now. Thank you for your help.

I’m also having trouble with my account.
It’s been years and I get that this username is reserved/taken, and also can’t login with an email link.
How can I change my username to it? Thanks.
