WP-Copyright-Protection plug-in

  • WP-Copyright-Protection, available from the WordPress.org page.

Copyright infringement — outright copying and stealing of entire articles — is an increasing problem. Placing the usual copyright notice does not necessarily stop the theft, but disallowing the action of copying the text is an effective deterrent.

I think this is a much appreciated plug-in for serious bloggers and writers.

  • Thanks for your suggestion. Staff review all threads posted here and will contact you directly if they choose to add the plugin.

Do know that no plugin can prevent copying content and/or media. All content of any kind on the internet can be copied by shooting a screenshot, regardless of any warning we may place on the site like copyright notices. See: Prevent Content Theft https://en.support.wordpress.com/prevent-content-theft/

What’s best for your wordpress.com hosted blog is watermarking your images or not placing any images and/or text that you don’t want stolen on the internet at all.

If you use the Duotone theme right click is disabled via CSS but that’s not available on any other themes. This is because anyone can find instructions on the internet and get around it in less than 20 seconds flat.

For clarity you can read what Staff said here about Duotone https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/how-to-disable-right-click-on-photos?replies=5#post-1659713 but in the end the effect still means the answer is the same one I posted above.

Blogger installed plugin capability does not exist on WordPress.COM blogs and there is no upgrade you can purchase here that changes that reality. For that type of functionality, you’d need a self-hosted WordPress.ORG software install running on a paid web hosting service.

WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums.
