I decided to make the switch from .com to .org; however, when I go to access my new login url, it just takes me back to my old .wordpress.com login screen? I already own the domain, so I have no idea what is going on. Help!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

http://coconutandcotton.com/ is still pointing to your WordPress.com site. You will need to change your domain’s nameservers to point to your new webhost.

You can find instructions for doing that here:

WhoIs.com still lists wordpress as your NS servers, FYI.

If you think your Name Servers are correct, there might be an issue with your .htaccess file in the root directory of your web server.

I tried entering the new name servers for Blue Host, then clicked save changes and when I go back to look if they switched, it goes back to the original wordpress.com. Is this something that takes a while to switch? It’s been a few hours.

Or do I need to transfer my domain? When I try to install wordpress.org via Mojo Marketplace in Blue Host, it says it’s unable to register at coconutandcotton.com, which is the domain I’m currently paying for. I ended up installing it to a temporary URL that they provided, but I don’t know if that was the best idea.

It takes up to 72 hours. You do not need to change your domain management over to Bluehost.

At the moment our registrar is having a slowdown and nameserver changes are taking longer than usual. Our apologies for any trouble.

Okay thanks for letting me know. Unfortunately, I still haven’t seen any changes. Now when I look at my name servers, they’ve gone back to the wordpress ones. What should I do next?

I would give it another try. That registrar slowdown mucked things up. Everyone who has initiated a nameserver change since that issue was resolved has been successful.
