WordPress.com–>WordPress.org
-
I have had a wordpress.com blog going for a couple months, and , for several reasons, have decided to install wordpress on a server using the software from wordpress.org. This may be a pretty elementary question, and I apologize if it’s obvious, but is there a way to change my blog management, and, if so, how. Thanks!

The correct forum for those downloading and self hosting free software from wordpress.ORG is here http://wordpress.corg/support
You can export the contents of your wordpress.com blog out and import them into the self hosted wordpress.ORG version.
(1) In the old blog, go to Tools -> Export and download the XML file to your computer.(2) In the new blog, go to Tools -> Import and upload the XML file you downloaded.
The links have to be exported separately in an OPML file. Export Links
You can export your links by visiting http://yourblogtitle.wordpress.com/wp-links-opml.php and then use the Save File option in your web browser (usually by clicking File -> Save As… but the exact wording may vary depending on your browser).

I realize that, but that was not what I meant. I was asking if there was a way for me to keep the same url (bobwama.wordpress.com) with wordpress.org. But thank you for your help.

Why not simply register the real domain? (bobwama.com)
(Cheapest place I know is 1and1.com) -

As a workaround, is there a way to set bobwama.wordpress.com to redirect to my wordpress.org?
