WordPress Team, email followers, and followers

    Hello,

    I have a huge list of 1800 something people under the “Team” Category of my blog. Though it says online that when people are under that category they can contribute to the blog. However I never assigned that and how did I get 1800+ people? When I click on “Team” it shows me all the emails, and next to it it says “Subscriber” So what does the “Team” Catergory mean? If someone can explain this to me?
