WordPress.org -> WordPress.com Migration Bugs

    Hi there,

We recently migrated our site from a self-hosted WordPress.org environment using the All-In-One migration plugin. The migration was successful, and the site is now live. However, I’m experiencing issues with the backend of WordPress.com. To clarify, I’m not referring to the wp-admin, which is functioning correctly, but rather to the admin settings for the site’s hosting and configuration.

Presently, I only have access to the Staging backend, having lost access to the Production backend.

Based on articles from WordPress.com, it’s advised to contact their team after a migration from a self-hosted setup. This is to ensure the site’s successful adaptation to its new environment. I’m hoping to address this as soon as possible.

Currently, the site is configured not to appear on search engines, a setting I can’t edit from wp-admin (in the WordPress.com environment). The only alternatives for modifying this are through the database or the WordPress.com admin settings, neither of which I have access to right now.

Your assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Note: I’m creating this request from the Staging site, because we lost control of the production site (it’s not linked anymore).

    Thank you.

    Hey there!

Presently, I only have access to the Staging backend, having lost access to the Production backend.

It looks like we’ve got a few issues to sort, and the access issue is the primary cause of the others. Do you remember about when that started?

Are you able to log in as the site owner and reach out here, or can you have them contact us here? We’ll need to authorize admin access to the main site.

    Hi there,

Thank you for your assistance, @supernovia. You’re spot on.

We began experiencing issues after migrating from our self-hosted website. While everything transferred without a hitch, we’re encountering problems with WordPress.com-specific functionalities. Surprisingly, under “Sites”, my account now only shows access to the Staging environment. It’s puzzling because the Production environment should be intrinsically linked with Staging. To clarify, the wp-admin is functioning well on the migrated site. However, the WordPress.com backend seems buggy, giving the impression it’s not properly synced with the migrated site. For instance, we’re unable to modify settings like Search Results Visibility. When we try, Wp-Admin redirects us to a WordPress.com page that either we can’t access or just doesn’t work.

For the record, I had admin rights on both sites. I’ll have another admin weigh in on this issue shortly.

    Thank you

Hi @mymarketinginc, you were removed as a site admin, and that’s the root of the issues you’re seeing.

I can’t tell from what I see whether that was intentional or whether something else happened, but if we can get approval from the account holder, we’ll add you back in.

Hi @supernovia, I am an admin of the site (ayogo.com) and I can confirm that we grant permission to help with this matter raised by myMarketing. Thank you!

    Thanks @ayogohealth! That’s helpful.

@mymarketinginc – I’ve got you added to the site now. Can you check to see if that clears up other issues you’re having?

    A few other things:

    • The other admins on the main site may need to reconnect Jetpack when they log in.
    • I noticed the staging site doesn’t have all of the same admins as the other site. Let us know if that’s okay.

Hi @supernovia, everything appears to be functioning well now! Thank you for addressing our issues; we greatly appreciate it. Should we encounter any other problems while exploring the settings, we’ll keep you posted.

Glad to hear it, @mymarketinginc! Your fixed Jetpack connection should help you get into chat / ticket support as needed, too, but you’re also welcome to reach out here in the forums if you need more help. Cheers!
