Widgets aren't visible on mobile version
-
I can’t see my widgets on the mobile version of my site. Why?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

As I learned from this thread, Harmonic is designed not to display widgets on smaller screens.
If widgets on mobile screens are important to you, you will have to switch to a theme that allows widgets on mobile screens. However please note that widgets are displayed at the end of the page on most themes that support them. Finding them can be tricky if you have enabled Infinite Scroll.

Thanks. So is there a way to know ahead of time which theme will show the mobile widgets?
-
Most of them now have that sort of info in the theme description page, but basically NONE of them will show a sidebar with widgets; if they show at all, they go below the content.
-
And it’s unfortunate because on the mobile section of the “appearance” tab it says, “Awesome! Your theme, Harmonic, is already deemed to be mobile-friendly.”
So that’s a little deceitful because as you said the Harmonic theme is not going to show the widgets when viewing from mobile/ipad version.

Speaking as a mobile blog reader, it’s a GODSEND.
Widgets slow things down; have you ever noticed the sidebar is the last thing to load? That’s because every widget loads separately, and if it’s drawing from elsewhere, like a video or RSS feed, that slows it down again. That’s why mobile designers put the content up front, so it doesn’t have to wait for widgets to load.
Generally, widgets are becoming less and less popular. When was the last time you went to a blog to see the widgets? Many of the newest themes don’t even have a sidebar, and only include a footer for widgets grudgingly.

I hear you, but I’d like to give people the option of signing up for my blog on their ipads/phones as well. But if they cannot see the “follow” widget they can”t use it.
But I got it now, the theme I was using didn’t show the appearance of the widgets but other themes do, so I’ll just have to change the theme. Thanks guys for your help.
