Widget disappears
-
Hey guys, my widgets will only show up on a few of the themes. It disappeared from the theme I was using and I had to change to something I do not want. Does anyone know how I can fix this?
Thank you! -

Sorry for not posting a link. http://amountainjourney.wordpress.com/
The entire sidebar disappears. It only works on a few themes. There doesn’t seem to be a pattern.

Some themes are not widget-enabled. And some have narrow columns; if you’ve got something in any one of your columns that is wider than the space allotted, your sidebars will get pushed to the bottom.

ESPECIALLY if you’re using the Read More tag. That causes a lot of these problems: what happens is that it splits other tags, like the < b > and so on, so the opening tag is on one side of the “More” and the closing tag is on the other.

Check out the following FAQ article if your sidebar is being pushed to the bottom of your page:

Thanks for the answers, but nothing has worked. My sidebars do not go to the bottom. They completely disappear.

Set your blog to display only one post per page and then go through them one at a time to see which post(s) is/are causing the problem.

Actually I see that your blog has no errors according to W3C so it probably isn’t an open tag. First thing I would do is to copy out your custom CSS and save it to a text file and then delete the custome CSS from the edit window and click on the “add to existing CSS” and click save to get back to the original CSS and see if that brings back the widgets. If it does, then there is a problem in your CSS.
You can look at your CSS errors and warnings here: http://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/validator?uri=http%3A%2F%2Famountainjourney.wordpress.com%2F&profile=css21&usermedium=all&warning=1&lang=en

Thank you guys so much. I finally was able to fix it by displaying one post per page and deleting the errant blog.

Hmmm, interesting that W3C didn’t show an error. Perhaps I checked after you had fixed it.
