Why is the theme Boardwalk not working properly on tablets?
-
Hi there,
I would like to switch to your theme Boardwalk. But the tablet version is not displaying properly. You can see it on every website using the theme, even in your own demo. The featured-posts-slider of the homepage is displaying the images very small. What happened? I remember that in the first version of the theme, it was all good. But now the theme is not really responsive anymore. Can you/I fix it?
Regards, mike

Hey @barbara3000,
When I view the demo for the Boardwalk Theme in the developer tools in Chrome on iPad view, the theme looks just like it’s supposed to. The images are tall and not “very small” like you stated.
Can you give us a screenshot of the tablet version not displaying properly?
Thanks!

@barbara3000
The site linked to your username is the same one linked to in the first post above and it is wearing the Expound theme,.Before we can provide any accurate assistance we need you to post the URL for the site wearing the Boardwalk theme, so please do that now.

Meet Boardwalk, a flexible, versatile, and responsive theme designed to show off your content in an unconventional — yet elegant and creative — way. https://wordpress.com/themes/boardwalk
Are you clear on what “responsive” means. It’s the gold standard for themes. https://www.responsinator.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fboardwalkdemo.wordpress.com%2F
The mobile ready theme is default and a completely different theme that you do not need to enable at all, if Publication is listed as a responsive layout theme here https://theme.wordpress.com/themes/features/responsive-layout/
A responsive layout theme adapts to different screen sizes so that your website will work (and be optimized for) iPhones, iPads, Android and other mobile devices. When responsive width themes are viewed on mobiles sidebars appear below the posts in order to provide as much space as possible for reading.
When we use a responsive theme we disable the mobile theme. Go to > Appearance > Mobile and disable the mobile theme
You can read more in the support docs at https://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/mobile-themes/
You can test your site at this link https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/mobile-friendly/
Lastly, note that we provide support only for wordpress.COM blogs and not for wordpress.ORG installs. That is why I asked for the URL of the site wearing Boardwalk.
WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums. Read the differences here http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
If you don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG account, then click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right hand corner of the page that opens, https://wordpress.org/support/register.php so you can post to the support forums there.

@timethief
as i mentioned, i’m just planning to switch to boardwalk theme. I have no website running on that theme. But you can see the problem on the demos of the theme on wordpress.com, wordpress.org and websites like this: https://dierusslandsdeutschen.wordpress.com/
Checked on two different iPads, iOS 9 and 9.02 -
Yes I read that but I wanted to be clear that you were not referring to a wordpress.ORG site and version of the theme.
If you are having iOS display issues then your may want to post to the iOS support forums. Here’s the link for the iOs forum for the WordPress app http://ios.forums.wordpress.org/ so you can post there and make our WordPress developers aware of your issue. http://ios.forums.wordpress.org/forum/how-to-and-troubleshooting

Thx. But thats the forum mainly for the WP app for iOS. I habe no issue with that. My point is, that one of your themes has a display-problem on a mobile device, although it is marked as beeing responsive.

@barbara3000, what kind of tablet are you using?
Edit: nevermind, I saw this:

Checking here now. Thanks :)

I didn’t have any trouble in Chrome, and I couldn’t duplicate the problem in an emulator, but I did see it in Safari on an iPad. I’ll contact the developers. Thanks!
