Why doesthe log-in pop up box appear when I'm already logged into WP?

    My readers have been complaining about the new pop-up/log in (especially after a comment they just typed has disappeared in the process…) but now it’s been happening to me, even when I’m logged into WordPress. Isn’t asking me for my name, e-mail address and url on the comment screen enough, without requiring a second log-in? Why the double whammy? Please help.

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Staff have made changes to the commenting system. You can read about them here > https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/recent-update-to-commenting?replies=4

    Thank you, timethief. I felt I came off rather “whiney” after I posted my query, but your calmness reassured me that change is a part of the process — no need for me to get anxious — just look for help forums, or helpful replies. :)

    Dear okielicious, you’ve received a bum answer. You should not not feel that way at all because the post which that link refers says absolutely NOTHING in answer to your question.

    The real issue is actually that STAFF have made changes which are rather dubious and now they cannot even answer your straightforward question.

    The unanswered question is still: why does one have to log in (often AGAIN) in order to post a comment?

    @okielicious
    I don’t have an answer for why you are experiencing this so I flagged this thread for Staff attention.

    Are you sure that you’re commenting with the email address on your WordPress.com account?

    It is possible that you may be entering an email address for a separate account.

    Thank you all for replying! The problem seems to be resolved (at least for me now — and hopefully for my readers.) Some of them have been logging in with their Twitter accounts to get around it. Also, I only have one e-mail address, so I don’t think that was the problem — but thank you for considering other potential causes!

    Back again… now I’m getting an “Internet Explorer can’t display the page” message when I’m trying to go to my dashboard! I tried using Google Chrome instead and it brought up a message that said, “Danger, danger, Will Robinson!” (or words to that effect…)

    Basically it said that a bogus WordPress server is fielding my request: *.wordpress.com ?

    Has someone pirated my blog? Please help! (and sorry to divert to another topic, but as long as the WP is heading over to this thread…) Thank you.

    Can you please quote the actual error message?

  • okielicious · Member · Apr 12, 2012 at 6:07 am

    Here’s one of them:

    No data received
    Unable to load the webpage because the server sent no data.
    Here are some suggestions:
    Reload this webpage later.
    Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data.

    Here’s another one:

    SSL connection error
    Unable to make a secure connection to the server. This may be a problem with the server, or it may be requiring a client authentication certificate that you don’t have.
    Error 107 (net::ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR): SSL protocol error.

    (This was while I was logged onto WP in the https admin edit screen)

    Is this from my end or yours? (I “un-Turbo-paged” it — already went through the quirks of Hughes Net with a previous Happiness Engineer.) Thanks again for your help.

    (Haven’t had the original “warning” back on-screen yet — will let you know if I do.) I realize you can’t solve problems without specifics — sorry to be so cheeky. Frustration does that to me. Thanks for your understanding. ~ Kim

    The pop-up box is back. This is what comes up after I “log in” on it:

    This webpage is not available
    The webpage at https://alittlelunch.wordpress.com/wp-login.php might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address.
    Error 15 (net::ERR_SOCKET_NOT_CONNECTED): Unknown error.

    I made a small change to your settings. Are you still having trouble?
