Why are posts not published to FB, Twitter, Linked In?

  • My posts are not being published to Facebook, Twitter, Linked In. I have disconnected and reconnected the accounts per the help page but this keeps happening. It is time consuming and frustrating. Is there a permanent fix to keep my blog Publicized settings?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi Dr. Gullett,

I’m sorry this has been frustrating. I tested each of your connections and no errors were reported, so there isn’t an immediate cause that I can see.

When publishing your posts, are you scheduling them in advance, “re-publishing” by changing the published date, or clicking “publish” to have it posted immediately?

Do you have an example post that failed to Publicize correctly?

Again, my apologies for the frustration and I hope to have this resolved for you soon.

    Thanks!

  • Thank you for your response. Perhaps I’m mistaken in how “Publicize” works. When I created a new blog entry in the past, I hit “Post” and my posts were then shared as a tweet, Facebook post, and Linked In update. I have not “scheduled” any posts or selected “Publish” at any time as I thought the point was to have my posts automatically shared?
I have “reblogged” the last 2 posts after they were not shared. I cleared Chrome’s cache, disconnected and reconnected each connection per the Help page, and then reblogged. Unfortunately, with my last post “Cancer Quacks” it was still not shared. Any help is much appreciated.

  • You have the correct understanding of how it should work. To clarify, I mean the “Publish” button when finishing your post as seen on our classic interface: http://d.pr/i/Pqk8 or our “Reader” interface interface: http://d.pr/i/VbvA

Are you using a different interface to publish or an offline writer? If so, we might have a bug there that hasn’t been reported yet that I can dive into.

In the meantime, I’ll investigate your latest post to see if there is a reason that one failed.

    Thanks for your patience!

  • I am not using a different interface, only different browsers on various PCs/Macs depending if I’m at work or home.
I will post more today so please do take a look and see what you find.

  • Thanks.

When publishing, can you click on the “Edit” link in the Publicize section (see: http://d.pr/i/glvg ) and confirm that the various services are checked?

On your latest post, they weren’t checked (indicating that the outbound ping wasn’t sent knowingly by the system), but can’t duplicate that when attempting to draft a new post or when publishing a post on my test site. Obviously, I don’t want to test publish a post on your site and have the ping actually work!

If they’re unchecked, can you check the boxes, then Publish the post.

    Thanks again for your patience.

  • So do I need to edit the Publicize section for each post now? (My posts used to be pushed to Twitter/FB/Linked In/Google + automatically).

I went back and edited the Publicized settings by clicking the boxes for my last 2 posts (clicked Update) and still do not seem them on Twitter/FB/LI.

  • Hi,

We shouldn’t require you to click the boxes each time (and frankly, I can’t duplicate a scenario where they wouldn’t be checked automatically).

I’m asking our development team that specializing in Publicize to look into your account and provide some additional insight for us. Thanks!

  • Hello, this is STILL not working. I just posted “Going nuts!” and while my Publicize settings show, when I click on Edit, all of the checkboxes are empty. I have rechecked the boxes and selected “update” however my post was still not pushed to Twitter/FB/LinkedIn, etc. I tried this twice with no luck.
Any thoughts on why this is happening?

  • Hi,

Our development team is still looking into why this is happening on your account. I’ll post an update once I have something actionable from them.

    Thanks!
