    I want the old wp-admin panel, så much better to edit,
    and it was down in the menu to the left, do someone understand me?

    There have been a few others posting in the forums recently saying the “wp-admin” link had suddenly disappeared from their “My Sites” menu. Interestingly, all had been blogging on WordPress.com for around one year. I really don’t know if this is a bug or something intentional carried out by WordPress.com staff. For now you’ll have to bookmark https://madeanddonebyanna.wordpress.com/wp-admin in your browser. It is still only one click to make either from there or from your “My Site” menu.

    Hey madeanddonebyanna!

    I wanted to jump in to confirm what themagicrobot described – the updated menu won’t have a link to WP Admin, but don’t worry – those menus are still there and can still be used!

    Adding a bookmark like the themagicrobot recommended is going to be the way to go!

    @staff-loquaciousloon I’ve already asked Darnell a similar question and don’t want to duplicate things, but just for clarification, is this “updated menu” being rolled out all across all of WordPress.com, or is it just for sites under a certain age. (I still have my wp-admin link today). I just don’t want to hand out incorrect information here on the forum.

    @themagicrobot,

    is this “updated menu” being rolled out all across all of WordPress.com, or is it just for sites under a certain age.

    The age of the account may be a factor, rather than the age of the site. It’s still present on test sites I created two days ago.

    @musicdoc1 Good that you can confirm it is accounts rather than sites that determine who has the link and who doesn’t. I’d still like to know what the new cut-off point is though and if there are any plans to keep “moving the goalposts”. People with accounts between one and two years old have been reporting the disappearance of the (until then regularly used) wp-admin link in their new/My Sites/Calypso menu.

    The appearance of WP Admin is dependent on account age, yes – sites registered over the last year to a year and a half will not have the WP Admin link, while older accounts still will.

    One note- if the front end (when you’re viewing your site) menu had WP Admin before the recent change, it should still be there – just moved to the bottom.

    @madeanddonebyanna can you double check the My Site menu from the front of your site, and tell me what you see at the bottom of the menu? If it’s not WP Admin, a screenshot to share with the team here would be super helpful!

    @timethief Last Sunday morning (UK time) WordPress.com had a server down and/or were carrying out maintenance for a few hours. The forum soon filled with people reporting a 500/504 error when trying to access wp-admin. (A number of them were immediately assuming they had broken their site or been hacked!). Interestingly everyone could still access the forums, their sites and the “My Sites” menu, just not wp-admin. It occurred to me that perhaps the two menus are in two totally different places. And that WordPress.com could actually keep working (after a fashion) with wp-admin turned off. Recent developments mean the wp-admin saga is destined to continue…………

    @themagicrobot

    Good spotting.

    Recent developments mean the wp-admin saga is destined to continue…………

    That’s a sure thing and that’s all I will allow myself to post here on the subject of after the fact notifications that cause confusion, inconvenience and frustration. I’m old school. I’ve been a business person for decades and I do everything I can to avoid p—ing off my customers and clients.

    P.S. I am now ghosting your support forum threads so I can keep up ^ with what’s going down. :)

    @staff-loquaciousloon,

    On my account, it’s near the top of the My Sites menu on the front end of sites. It’s the second link, right after the link to the site.

    Hi Chad1008,

    Farrah here from myfarrahdise.com I am currently experiencing the same. :(
    I wonder how to bookmark? not a techie person. Thank you.

    @musicdoc1

    Excellent point – You’re still on the original front end menu and not yet seeing the new update that @madeanddonebyanna has.

    As the update rolls out, more account will see a blue front end menu that more closely matches the back end My Sites menu. At that point WP Admin (for accounts with the link) will shift to the bottom.

    @farrahligan

    Creating a bookmark will vary slightly depending on what web browser you’re using – look for Bookmarks in your web browser menu.

    For example, in Chrome, I click on the three dots menu to the right of my address bar. Then under Bookmarks, I can choose Bookmark this page. There are also faster ways, like hotkeys and buttons you can add to your toolbar.

    If you don’t see it, run a search on Google for “How to add a bookmark in Chrome” (or Firefox, or Edge – whatever your browser of choice is!)

    You are getting rid of the admin menu? Okay. I need to learn to set up a blog on Concrete.

    @staff-loquaciousloon –

    The appearance of WP Admin is dependent on account age, yes – sites registered over the last year to a year and a half will not have the WP Admin link, while older accounts still will.

    Is it account age or site age? Those terms aren’t interchangeable. Thanks.

    @rpmas – The LINK to wp-admin in the Calypso dashboard (New Blue) has been very volatile over the past year or so.

    Whether the entire WP Classic Admin Panel will be removed on WordPressdotcom at some point is a good question. It sometimes feels like that is the direction WordPressdotcom is taking. Personally I have my doubts.

    You can bookmark your wp-admin (available at yoursite.wordpress.com/wp-admin/ ) so you have it handy.

    @jennifer,

    sites registered over the last…

    I’m sure that he meant “sites on accounts registered over the last…,” as can be inferred from the context.

    I have over 10 sites to manage, and having to bookmark every single wp-admin link is annoying, to say the least!

    The “new” look is really not suitable for every purpose and the link should just be put back,

    @doc – could be, but I would rather be 100% sure rather than inferred. Thanks anyway.
