What type of blog is required to allow adwords?

    Hi, first post here.

    I have a wordpress blog hypnotherapyinpeterborough.com that carries no advertising nor is pointed to by google adwords. I am, however, interested in drafting a separate website using wordpress and for this I do wish to run a google adwords campaign.

    I’ve looked back over previous forum posts and thus understand that the adwords is not permitted with the wordpress.com blogs, so I wondered what or how I need to set my blog up to allow advertising, since I see many other sites out there that appear to be doing just this.

    As I see it it appears to be that I need to have a wordpress.org website or suchlike? Is this something that has to be hosted away from wordpress?

    Apologies for what is probably an obvious question to all and sundry, but I’m rather confused.

    Yes, you have to do that on another site as you can’t do it on a free hosted WordPress.com blog.

    No blogger initiated advertising, retailing or reselling the work or products created or services provided by anyone other than yourself is allowed on free hosted wordpress.COM blogs. E-commerce transactions via shopping carts and the like cannot be conducted on free blogs from and being free hosted by wordpress.COM

    The advertising exceptions noted in support documentation are for high traffic blogs that qualify for and are accepted into the Ad Control program, soon to be replaced with the WordAds program, and for extremely high traffic blogs that qualify and are accepted into the paid VIP hosting program. The WordAds program is only for blogs that are well established and have at least 20,000 page views monthly, as well as, meeting the criteria for acceptance into the program.
