What happened to my blog?
-
It takes so long to write a post, if I can even get the site loaded to the point where I can write, and then I lose everything when I click Publish. How do I get back my old blog that was not irritating or, well, useless?

Hi art3g, I’m sorry you’re having trouble!
Regarding a lost post, can you check to see if the lost information is in a post revision?
https://en.support.wordpress.com/editors/page-post-revisions/And, could you send a little more info about what happened before part of the post disappeared? If you can’t it’s okay. Just if we can duplicate this we can likely solve the problem.
If you want to use the Classic editor for now, that’s totally understandable. Here’s how:

I’m using the Classic editor. Everything is terribly slow. Sometimes the page doesn’t load at all. I can only select one image at a time now. When I am adding tags I get to three and the page reloads or something so that I have to go back to tags to add more. When I click publish I get an error message and everything is gone. Also, the calendar no longer shows what days I have a post scheduled for. It used to be so handy.

Hi –
Please let me know if clearing your browser cache makes any difference in the editor’s behavior.
Here’s how: https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-your-browser-cache
If that doesn’t make any difference then write back with the browser type and version number. That information can be found via https://supportdetails.com/

Hello, thanks for the suggestions. I cleared the browser cache and encountered the same problem: hit Publish and up comes an error that freezes the screen. It also happens now if I click Tags. Today I’m using Firefox 52. I’ve also tried FlashPeak Slimjet and Chrome. I’ve had a bit of luck with an iPad but goodness it is slow going.

Firefox 52 is very old, it was released in early 2017.
Are you able to update to Firefox 80.0.1?
What version of Chrome are you using?
