Virus pop up on my website
-
It’s happening on mine again also.
This is a bit frustrating.
I’ve uploaded the screenshot to my media centre.
-
I’ve uploaded a screenshot of the pop up ad to my media library. I don’t know the IP address unfortunately as my friend took the screenshot.
-
My readers are still experiencing problems. I’m worried I will start losing my followers that I’ve worked hard to get. Please advise current status of issue. Seems like another advertiser has slipped something past your firewall

Hi folks.
Sorry for the delay. It looks like we had another uptick of these ads on Saturday, December 2, but it should have stopped since.
If anyone is still seeing ads even after restarting your iOS device and clearing the browser cache, please let me know. I’m subscribed to this thread to make sure I’ll see your replies.

That sounds like a different issue than the pop-up ads we’ve been tracking in this thread.
If you feel an ad is inappropriate, please take a screen shot of the ad and upload it to your media library. Then you can submit the form at the following link which has a space to add the link to the screen shot in your library. Then the team can investigate the specific ad.

I’ve just noticed since this event the adds are really strange. This is why I thought it maybe connected. But as you suggest I will start a new thread. Thanks for taking the time to reply.

Can you please tell me if that appears when you load your site directly in your browser, or when you click on a link to your site from another app, like from Facebook or Twitter?
Can you please also try the following:
Force-quit Safari, and restart your iPhone/iPad. Once it restarts, open Safari and clear the browser history, cache and cookies before you load anything else. Then force-quit and restart again.
Do you still see the pop-up?
-
It happens when I load the address directly into my browser. However it does not happen on my “homepage”. Its happening when i go into an actual “post”. So i type my address in. I am taken to my homepage, then when i click a link into the post I want to read. I am taken to the post. After about 5 seconds of the actual post being opened the pop-up occurs.
After following your instructions several times. The pop-up still occurs. The only difference is that when it does show up again. It has a new “web addres” same pop-up
When using a link from FB the pop-up does not occur.

Thanks for that info.
Last question: Do you see other ads on the post? Like regular ads in a fixed block above or below the post content? Or only the pop-up?
-
Yes i do see other ads on the post. Yes i do see the fixed ads above and below the content. In addition to the pop-up. Observation: I attempted to duplicate the issue before I answered this reply. The pop-up no longer comes up, but referencing your question about ads. Looking at my posts page i have “6” ads on the page. That amount seems excessive!
-
I’m glad to hear the pop-up no longer appears. There should not be that many ads, though. You should only see two ad slots below the first post. I’ve asked our ads team to check on that.
