viewing private material without blog owner's permission
-
I made almost all my pages “private” but I am unpleasantly surprised that still are people who access my private materials there , without asking or having any permission by me .
Why this could happen and what can I do to stop it ? I think just changing my password will not be enough .
Thank you ,
GiacomoThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

What makes you think that any private post or pages can be accessed it please? What are the exact URLs?
-
Private – Posts/Pages are only visible to blog Editors and Administrators. Private posts/pages are not visible in the Reader, feeds, or in any search. A post/page can be private without being password protected.

Some of the materials ( photos from a gallery which is “private” ) appear on the stats and were viewed several times yesterday . I think this is not a good thing .
-
An the Editors or Administrators are considered visitors and appear on the stats as such ?
-
Editor’s and Admin’s visits to the a public blog when they are logged into WordPress.com are not recorded. However, if the blog is private then the visits are being recorded. http://en.support.wordpress.com/stats/

I’m not certain this applies to private posts, but on private blogs (the whole site being designated as private) visits by the Administrator and Editors are counted. Did you or your Editors look at the photos which were viewed?

Oops. Major rainstorm interupted and I should have refreshed before posting… water all over the floors…

Hi Giacomo,
I would be happy to look into this for you if you would like. If you don’t mind me looking at a private post and photo on your blog, you can give me a link to one of the posts/pages where this happened and I can investigate this issue for you.
One thing to note is that if you published a photo in a public post/page on your blog and then inserted the same photo again in a private post/page, that photo will still be publicly visible because it is still linked to a public post or page. However, photos uploaded to a private post should not be visible to the public.

Hi rachelmcr ,
I think there were some detailed photos in which viewers could find a solution for some interesting enclosure system I’ve had made on a necklace . These photos were very accessed in the past , too .
I think I already solve the problem by deleting them permanently .
But the truth is the photos were accessed on a private page , this is no doubt about it .
I am thinking to take a radical measure with my blog , these days . -
Hi Giacomo,
If you want to ensure that no one can access any material on your blog, you can set the entire blog to private by adjusting your privacy settings: Privacy Settings
If you encounter this issue again, please let me know and I will be happy to look into it for you.
