  Hi,

  I recently signed up to WordPress.com, not realizing I had another account in my name, with the username I wanted to use.

  Once I realized that I had the first account, I changed the email address and username on there, to be used on the new account instead.

  Only after doing this did I realise, that the username I had changed could not be retrieved as it’s still telling me (on both the accounts) that the username is unavailable and already taken, which I know it’s not becuase I was using is about 2 minutes ago :(

  Is there any way at all that I can retrieve this username at all?

  Would hugely appreciate help…

  Hello @thepressedcollective,
  I may disappoint you with this, but once you change the username you cannot use it again on any accounts. It’s kept reserved, so that no one can register it and impersonate you.

  This is the reason why there are warnings given at the time of the change, so that you can think twice before the change is made.

  Well there’s one good news, you can reuse the email address on your new account.
