Hi,

I recently downloaded my website from Bluehost as a tar file. How do I upload it to WordPress? I’m sure I need to change the file type but I’m unsure as to how to do that.

Any help is appreciated.

Hi there,

As long as you have your XML file intact when you unpack the tar.gz file, you should be able to upload your content without issue.

If you want to move your site from self-hosted to WordPress.com, you can follow the instructions on our support page here:

If you also want to still use your current domain once you transfer your site, you can follow the instructions here:
