upgrading from free to premium plan?

Hi,

Thinking of upgrading from Free Plan to a Premium Plan, but don’t find how to do this on the wordpress.com end of the site?

NB: Our site momentumactingstudio.com is hosted by Hostgator

Can you also confirm we can use Stripe for simple payments with Premium Plan? (not keen on Paypal)

You can use the free site https://momentumactingstudio.wordpress.com/ and export/import the content of your HostGator site to it and then map or transfer your domain to that site by purchasing an upgraded WordPress.com plan. But I think you’d need the Business plan to use Stripe here. There is a “Simple payments” option with the Premium plan though.

Would someone know where can I get the information for sure about being able to use stripe or not with a Premium account?
It isn’t worth for us to get a business account.

Hi there,

Do you actually want to move your site from Hostgator to WordPress.com? At Hostgotor you’re using the open source version of WordPress, which is something different from WordPress.com, and you cannot buy a WordPress.com upgrade plan for a self-hosted WordPress site.

If you want to add a Stripe payment gateway to your existing Hostgator site, you need to contact Stripe to find out if they have an official payment gateway plugin, or else you’d need to use another Stripe plugin like the one available for the WooCommerce ecommerce plugin.

If you plan on migrating your site to WordPress.com, please note that plugins and third party themes can only be used on our Business Plan. The Simple Payments button available in the premium plan is specifically designed to work with a PayPal account. It is not a universal button that can be integrated with any payment gateway you want, and does not work with Stripe.
