two posts pages – bilingual option

  • Is it possible to have two separate posts pages?

I know about the static page option, but what I really need is a way to sort posts in English and Norwegian on separate posts pages. Settings under “Reading” doesn’t allow you to tick more than one posts page. Leaving the posts page option unchecked doesn’t work. Categorizing posts don’t seem to help, as a page cannot be a category (or can it?).

Note that I’m not looking for a translation plug-in won’t help either, as the content on English and Norwegian pages will be different most of the time.

I hope there is a solution to this problem. And if separate front pages is not an option, maybe it is possible to split the front page in two columns?

    Help needed and much appreciated!

  • WordPress.com sites come with a single Posts page. However you can use the same posts page and split your content using Categories and a Custom Menu. See here: http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2010/06/30/posts-on-pages/

Plugins can’t be used here on WordPress.com in any event, so that is not an option.

Also, you may want to review these additional previous threads for more ideas on setting up a bilingual site on WordPress.com https://en.forums.wordpress.com/tags/bilingual

In my opinion, the best option is to run two entirely separate sites using the same theme as although your content will be in two languages, the context menus, buttons, etc. will only be running in one language (whatever you set as the primary language of the blog).
