Twenty Ten: text margins

  • I removed the side bar from most of my pages. This centers the text but didn’t expand the width. How do I adjust the margins so that the text spreads out more?

  • Hi there,

    Good job removing the sidebars! To expand the content area to the full width on the pages where you’ve removed the sidebar, add

    .one-column #content {
    margin: 0 auto;
    width: 940px;
    }

    To your custom CSS. This will expand your content area to the full width. You might also try 920px rather than 940px to give your content a little breathing room on each side.

    Hope that helps! If you have any other questions, please ask!

  • Thanks so much! 900px seemed to work best when compared with the pages with sidebars.
