Twenty ten: changing the colour of the menu bar below the header?

  • I am using Twenty Ten and have uploaded an image as a header.
    I would like to change the black menu bar below the image to another colour – am i able to do this?

  • Hey. Could I just confirm whether you’re speaking about the footer menu? This is the only black menu bar I can see on the page.

    If you have the custom CSS upgrade, you can change the colour of this menu by adding the following CSS snippet into your editor:

    #footer #colophon {
    background: #222;
    color: #fff;
    }

    Replace the value for background to the hex colour value you wish the black background to be changed to.

    Replace the value for colour to the hex colour value you wish the text to be. (The text is currently white, but you may wish to change this if you choose a light background for the bar.)

  • @siobhyb: They were speaking about the top menu in Twenty Ten (they switched theme in the meantime), and they don’t seem to have the upgrade.

    @swervanna: You can’t change the color without the Custom Design upgrade. What you could do (other than switching to a different theme) is remove the top menu altogether (by creating a blank custom menu in Appearance > Menus) and display the links in the sidebar instead.
