Transferring my domain from wordpress.org

    I have a domain which was hosted by westnet.com.au who recently transferred it to wordpress.org.

    My domain, with hosted emails, is: ainsliegatt.com

    I would like to transfer this domain to my wordpress.com account.

    Please help me?

    Even I have the same concern.
    I want to transfer my blog from wordpress.org to wordpress.com business plan.
    The site is :Anoop Astrology Sutra
    Will, buying business plan also cover data transfer(db transfer) from wordpress.org hosted on hostgator.in to wordpress.com.

    Hi there, both of you.

    First, you’ll need to register a free WordPress.com URL and transfer all your content to that site. See here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-from-self-hosted-wordpress-to-wordpress-com/view-all/

    WordPress.com doesn’t accept incoming domain transfers, so you’ll need to keep your domains with their current registrars. Once you’re sure you’ve transferred all your content you can cancel your hosting account, though, as your hosting will now be handled by WordPress.com.

    Then you need to buy the domain mapping upgrade (also included in Premium and Business) to connect that domain to your free WordPress.com site. https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/

    Do you mean the cost of exporting your data from the self-hosted site? No. That’s between you and hostgator. Importing your data to WordPress.com won’t cost you anything, though, as that service is offered even to free blogs.

    If you already have email hosting connected to that domain, you should be able to keep on using it, but you might need to reconnect it to your WordPress.com account after you’ve mapped your domain here. See here for instructions: https://en.support.wordpress.com/add-email/
