Title of my site
I would like to amend the words in the title of my site. Thanks for your help if you can.
If you go to My Site > Manage > Settings you will be able to change the site title.
I hope this helps!
Success. Many thanks. On another matter – The site has a white background. Is there any way to change the background color. Thanks for your help. Allan
I believe, depending on your theme, you will be able to do this if you go to My Site > Design > Customise > Colours & Backgrounds. However, this is only available for certain themes. If you cannot find this option in your theme, it may be that your theme is unable to have the background changed. If you want to change to a theme that has this ability, you can change your theme by going to My Site > Design > Themes.
You can find out more at https://wordpress.com/support/themes/custom-backgrounds/ (more specifically, https://wordpress.com/support/themes/custom-backgrounds/#setting-a-background-color).
Many thanks. Making good progress with your help. I’ll have to change theme to achieve Colors & Backgrounds. I’m running Hever at the moment.
One small but important thing – how do I make email addresses in text live. Thank you again.
PS. Am also trying to set up Email Forwarding. Just need to be a bit clearer on how to do it through My Sites – Manage – Domains. Appreciate your help. Many thanks.

I switched to Hever on my test site, and there isn’t an option Colors & Backgrounds on the Customiser, so I would suggest changing the theme. You can find out whether a theme enabled colour and background changes by looking at its info. You can look at the info for a theme by going to https://wordpress.com/theme/hever, for example (change the ‘hever’ for the theme name).

Just a quick note that, while most content stays the same, your homepage and menus/CSS may be affected by a theme change. I would suggest copying any content on your home page and other main pages (such as About or Contact) onto a document before changing, just in case. You may also have to edit menus by going to My Site > Design > Customise. You can find out more about editing menus at https://wordpress.com/support/menus/.
@supernovia just told me on https://wordpress.com/forums/topic/accidentally-changed-theme-on-wrong-site-and-lost-content/ that one way to try to restore data if you’ve already changed themes and are having trouble finding the old pages is to try deleting the new versions and republishing the old versions.
Can you delete the new versions and re-publish those pages? (@supernovia)
I haven’t had a chance to test this out yet, but it may work. If you’ve lost any data, you could try this.
I also read when looking up how to restore lost data that @timethief said on https://wordpress.com/forums/topic/question-about-switching-between-themes-eventbrite-to-cerauno/
The only time you may have to do some work is if you are changing to a dramatically different theme and have done any CSS editing.(@timethief)
so lost data may not be an issue for you, depending on the theme you choose/chose.
Am also trying to set up Email Forwarding. Just need to be a bit clearer on how to do it through My Sites – Manage – Domains.
This isn’t a feature I know a lot about, since I have a free plan, but I’ve had a look into it for you. I’m sure another volunteer or a staff member will be able to check I’ve got everything correct soon.
From going to My Site > Manage > Domains > Email, I understand that you need a custom domain to set up a custom email. This requires a WordPress paid plan. You can find out more about that by reading the support post https://wordpress.com/support/plan-features/. Also have a look at https://wordpress.com/support/domains/register-domain/ for other important information.
There’s also a support post specifically for Email Forwarding (https://wordpress.com/support/add-email/email-forwarding/) — more generally, https://wordpress.com/support/add-email/.
I also had a look at the support post for domains. I think this will help you with custom email: https://wordpress.com/support/domains/#custom-email
WordPress.com provides e-mail forwarding, but if you’d rather have full email hosting, you can connect another provider to your custom domain. To have email addresses on your domain (like (email redacted)), check out these email options.
how do I make email addresses in text live
Again, I don’t know much about this (I thought this happened by default, but I’m no tech expert) and haven’t found a support post about it, but I’m sure a volunteer/staff member will be able to help :)
If you have any further questions, be sure to ask.
Hi again @allanlowtherporter,
I don’t know if you’re still having trouble with this or if you’ve decided not to have it, but I happened to stumble across how to make email addresses live today. If you go to the editor and highlight the address you want to make live, then click the ‘link’ button, that should make it live. If not, add a
I hope this helps! Sorry it’s so late.
Also, in terms of changing a theme, have a look at https://wordpress.com/forums/topic-tag/homepage-in-drafts/ if you’re having problems with that. If that doesn’t answer your questions, be sure to ask here :)
