I have the box checked in Sharing for showing the WordPress Like Button and on the individual posts, I have the Like box and Sharing button box checked, but LIKE doesn’t show up when I look at my posts in Internet Explorer or Firefox. It randomly shows up in Chrome. Most of the time it doesn’t show up in Chrome, but occasionally it does.

Is there somewhere else I need to activate it?

Thanks for any help you can give me. I’ve been messing with this for over a week now. It’s driving me crazy!

The blog I need help with is vinnyfan.com.

I am having the same problem and using the twenty ten theme. I noticed the like button was there about a week ago when I wrote my first post, but now its not showing on any of my posts. I’d be grateful for any suggestions as to how to fix this.

I’m using both Firefox 11 and I can see the link button on the bottom of your posts. If you can’t see it I think you may have a browser issue. Have you tried clearing your browser cache and cookies? http://www.google.com/support/accounts/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=32050

I also used IE8 and I can click your post titles and see the like buttons at the end of your posts above the comment box.

I can click the post title on your blog and see the like button using both Firefox 11 and IE8.

I upgraded Firefox to 11. IE was already at 8. I cleared the cache and cookies. When I first go to my web page, the LIKE button doesn’t show up. When I choose a post from the list in “recent posts”, the LIKE button is there. Then when I go back to the original page (today’s post) the LIKE button is present. Does this make any sense?

Yes and I have the answer to you dilemma. When you click a post title in the Recent Posts widget that post opens on its own page where, all comments are displayed below the posts with the like button below the posts and above the conments box.

On the front page of our blogs our posts are “showcased” and that means all comments are collapsed on that page. By clicking the post title or the comments link the posts on the front page open on their own page where the like button and all comments display.

The way the comments function is coded into the core of WordPress and we can’t change this.

In a new blog one does not have many posts or comments. In an established blog if the comments did not collapse on the front page it would become a mile long in no time flat, and page loading time is a page ranking factor. Studies show we have only 3-4 seconds before visitors refuse to wait for a site to load and click out.

OK, then I guess it’s working as designed and I just misinterpreted how it worked. Thanks for checking it out and for the great explanation.

Yes, your blog is operating correctly as designed to operate, not as you expected. You’re welcome and hang in there – it gets better. :)
