The entire format for placing photos has changed??

I have one suggestion for your developers regarding the media library (or perhaps it is already available):
“The option to select a number of files and do a mass batch delete”
If this is possible already, I would like to know how?

Before the changes, I could change the size and add a special title to the featured image on my home page. Now I can’t do it anymore. All my previous (and very funny) titles are lost. It really sucks !

The media library itself has not changed. You can still do bulk actions such as deleting multiple files:

First impression, disappointing, pointless and unintuitive “upgrade”. Has anyone figured out how to to set the display image when using the gallery format? Previously this was done by physically dragging the one you want to the front of the line (even if it was already there) in the post images area. That does not work in this iteration.

je n’arrive plus à poster des images ni dans le corps même de l’article ni à l’intérieur d’une page. De même a disparu la possibilité – fort élégante pourtant- de mettre l’image à gauche, à droite ou au milieu. Il vous suffirait de rétablir le mécanisme ancien car un blog sans image perd les 9/10 e de son attractivité.

thedogwalkinggardener – I’m so sorry you lost your images. Could you provide a few filenames of the missing images (i.e. myphoto.jpg) so I can see if we can track them down for you?

You can bulk-delete by going to Media Library and clicking the checkboxes beside all the images you want to delete.
Next, from the Bulk Actions drop-down menu at the top left, choose “Delete permanently” and click the “Apply” button.
Repeat this for as many pages of your Media Library as necessary.

kathrynaultnoble – it sounds like the Carousel option was enabled on your site. This displays images on a black background at a fixed size.
You can turn that option off by going to Settings > Media, and under “Image Gallery Carousel” unchecking “Display images in full-size carousel slideshow.”
Please let me know if this doesn’t work.

laboutiere – You should still be able to add images to your posts and adjust their alignment to the left, right or centre – that ability has not been removed and there are several ways to do it:
First method – via the Visual Editor: http://en.support.wordpress.com/images/image-alignment/
Second method – via the Edit Image window: http://en.support.wordpress.com/images/image-settings/#within-posts
If you’re having trouble adding images, could you please provide more information about what’s going wrong? Do you see an error message, and if so, what does it say? Are you able to add images through the Media Library?

I’m sorry you’ve lost your funny tooltip titles on featured images! The “tooltip” title attribute was dropped, as Ryan explained in another thread, for these reasons:

Basically, we’re trying to improve accessibility and play nicely with screen readers.

Perhaps I am not explaining it well. My blog suddenly switched to a previously unseen carousel format yesterday. It is not altered by switching the gallery settings. I like for potential clients to click on an illustration and see more detail. With this format, they just get the restrained size carousel. Clicking just brings up the next image. I’ll keep fussing around with it, I just don’t understand why it suddenly changed.

kathrynaultnoble – I think you did explain it well. I went in and unchecked this for you to turn off the carousel:
“Display images in full-size carousel slideshow.”
Would you mind refreshing your site in the browser and letting me know if it’s back to normal? I’m not sure how the carousel got activated, but do let me know if it happens again.

But it does not change. . . still a carousel view.

Have you tried refreshing your browser’s cache and cookies?
I’m not seeing the carousel on your site – images open in their full view when I click on any of the images on this page, for example:

Am so STRONGLY ticked off about this new “add media” change, which WP simply does at will, that I could spit! Most of my videos, which were titled BEFORE this unnecessary change took place, now are NOT titled. I have to sift through numerous videos to find the one I want… same with photos!
This change is about as good as “infinite scroll”!
WHY doesn’t WP give users the OPTION to accept changes or not? This new “add media” change has cost me time and effort.

After communicating with “happiness engineer” James all day yesterday, was told that my spending time in finding the items which were easily found before this change would not affect the traffic to my site! How naive!
If I’m spending hours trying to find what I need, that means that I will post less… which means that traffic to my site will definitely be affected!
Again, WHY can’t WP give users the option of opting in to these blanket changes???
