Text flashes to selected font/size from default font when loading page.

    I am using the Didi theme and have chosen a font different from default. Whenever I load a page on the web site, it displays the default font/size and then switches to the font/size I chose. This happens in the header and the main text. It looks very untidy. Is there a way to avoid this problem? I looked around on the internet and it seems like there is a toggle called Appearance > Customize > Typography > General > Load Fonts After The Body Tag that might fix this. But I cannot find this on wordpress.com free plan. Is this the way to fix the problem? Which plan would I need? Nearly ready to give up. Too many niggly issues.
