Templates

  • Hello – I’m using the free version just as a trial before upgrading but I am wanting to know if any of your templates offer the parallex scrolling on mobile/tablet. I can’t seem to find any here and didn’t want to have to pay the upgrade fee until I’m sure there is a template that has this. Many thanks, Emma

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there, Mobile versions of themes are kept slim in order to minimize mobile data transfer. For example, the few themes that I’ve seen that include video headers specifically say that you should upload a static image for display on mobile. So my educated guess is that parallex scrolling might also behave the same way.

Regardless, I’ve moved your thread to the Themes forum for Staff input. Thanks for your patience while they get back to you.

  • Many thanks that would be great. I have seen that scrolling on mobile through a WordPress.org site so would be great if it was available on the WordPress.com (as I am not a coder etc). Cheers, Emma

  • You’re welcome. If you have an example of an ORG theme where you’ve seen this feature on mobile, could you link to it here? Thanks.

  • Hi – sorry it’s just a landing page for now but it’s burraneercourt.com.au (a friend had this done). Thanks, Emma

  • Thanks for that. I’m not sure we have a theme like that, but on the Business upgrade plan you can also upload 3rd party themes.

More about the Business upgrade here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/business-plan/

    and pricing here: https://wordpress.com/pricing/

  • Many thanks – just wondering if you offer free trial periods of the premium plans? Or does the free version work in a similar way (and then you can upgrade from there)?

  • No there isn’t a trial period on upgrade plans and the free plan only covers what is mentioned on the pricing page. Upgrade plans give you additional features like CSS Customization on Premium and Business.

All WordPressdotcom upgrade plans are paid for the full year at checkout and are automatically renewed with the card on record unless you opt out. Refunds are available for 30 days from date of purchase on everything but new custom domain registrations, which need to be cancelled within 48-hours of purchase.

    Here’s more on refunds: https://en.support.wordpress.com/refunds/

Let us know if you need more information or have more questions on that.

  • Hi there,

The site, http://burraneercourt.com.au/, you linked to as an example isn’t using WordPress at all, so it’s not a WordPress theme they’re using.

We do have some single-page scrolling themes on WordPress.com, and some of them, like Twenty-Seventeen, has a parallax scroll effect. You can see the full list here:

    https://wordpress.com/themes/filter/one-page

Whether or not it will work on mobile depends on the code the theme uses, though – mobile browsers don’t support all the JavaScript and CSS code that desktop browsers do.

Then as @justjennifer mentioned, you can also install any third-party WordPress theme if you have the Business Plan upgrade on your site.
