Te size of the image in the post

  • Hi!

    I’m using cubid-theme on my log and I was wondering ir it is possible to change how it shows the picture on tle post-site. It shows the picture cropped to square on the homepage but in the post-site it crops it so that only part of it shows.

    Thanks beforehand,
    Anniina

  • With the Cubic theme, on the single post pages, the area for the images is landscape (wider than tall) in proportions, so if you have an image that is portrait (taller than wide) the image will be cropped, and it appears the bulk of your featured images are landscape in proportion. If we size the portrait proportion images, in the CSS, so that there is no cropping, there will be a lot of white space to the left and right of the images.

    In the Cubic Theme Showcase page, it says featured images should be 2000px wide by 1500px tall, which is a ratio of 1.33 to 1 (width to height). With that ratio, there would be no cropping of the images.

  • Hi!

    Thanks for answering! If it’s possible to resize the pictures with css would it effect the frontpage as well? Becose if it does, it would be the same to just edit the pictures so that they have white sides in themselves? But if it doesen’t effect the frontpage then I don’t mind white space on the sides of the image in post page.

    Also, if I would size the pictures, would it effect all the post pages at ones or would I do it separately to everyone?

    We can limit the change to just the single post pages, but in doing so, if you later have a landscape oriented featured image, it will not look right since we have set things for portrait orientation.

    The only way to accommodate both would be to create separate CSS rules for each and every post you make using the specific post ID body class selector.

    The following, you can paste into your custom CSS below any other rules, and see what you think. The problem is your images are a variety of sizes, so this solution might not work on all posts.

    body.single .hentry.has-post-thumbnail .wp-post-image {
        min-width: auto;
    }
    .single .entry-thumbnail {
        min-height: 849px;
        background: #000 !important;
    }
