robots.txt:
http://pixel.wp.com/robots.txt”Can someone help me understand what it is saying. When I look up pixel.wp.com a 6×5 tiny sad face displays. When I try to access the page to find out who owns it to have the thing stop blocking my page, it says I am not the owner..of course. But why would something that is not the owner of me be blocking a menu at my site?
Can someone more up on all things web explain in human terms what is going on and what I need to do to fix this? Thank you in advance.

I have other errors too at the same site. I don’t know if they are related, but FYI I have 35 items with structured data hatom markup: microformats.org errors – “Missing: author Missing: updated.” Don’t know if these are related to the theme I am using or wordpress, but I’d appreciate any help ASAP…
-
Hi @wponenew , about the microformats error, can you link us to that page or upload a screenshot of the errors you see? Usually those sorts of warnings aren’t too serious, but I’ll report it anyway to see if we can get that cleared up.
About http://pixel.wp.com/g.gif — it’s supposed to be a tiny smiley face actually. We use it to measure stats, so no worries there. And the robots.txt message you see in google? We just don’t want Google to waste resourcing that site, since it’s just a few gifs. In fact the main site if you visit it will redirect back to WordPress.com .
Let us know if you have more questions!

I just sent you several screenshots of the structured data errors (35) and the blocked menu at my site. The latter is most critical. If you visit janicednelson.com and click on Fine Art Prints, that is the menu that Google says it can’t index because of the tiny gif you guys placed on my menu page…if I understand you correctly.
-
We didn’t get those — can you upload them to your media library, or upload them to a service like Cloudup?

Still getting 2 blocked pages… https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/roboted?hl=en&siteUrl=http://janicednelson.com/
and thirty five pages of structured data errors with missing authors:

Supernovia and timethief – I still have the same errors – my pages are blocked for some strange reason and I found I have “nofollow” links as well. Can someone from wordpress please correct these? It’s been a couple days now. I am adding another screenprint today for the nofollow links, too.
-
Thanks Janice, I’ll report the structured data error. Again, that’s not something to worry about too much, but I will report it for you.
What do you mean though when you say the pages are blocked?
-
I have been using several sites to check how my two websites (one of which is wordpress.com) is ranking and performing to see what I need to improve and what needs to be fixed by others. Several of the sites report in detail the bulk of key pages are literally blocked (from Google search results, not from directly keying in the address and finding the page manually) or have errors. I uploaded the screen shots to my media library. It is critical for me as I am trying to setup these sites to sell my fine art prints. Right now these pages are the only places I sell them. Getting this right is not optional…
-
Oh okay. I see that screenshot now.
Did you try option 2, verify? Click on that link. If it gives you a DNS setting to use, you can use these instructions or contact us here for help: http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact
-
What option 2?
I am not able to access the Domain Management page. There is no such thing that I see in my admin section…
-
Update: I found the dns record option and the three things WP is handling. What is it you want me to do to fix the errors I sent to you in the screenshots you had me upload to my media library?
-
The support link you give me says nothing specifically about what we are discussing. It only leads me to the generic support page listing topics. How does that help?
-
Hi Janice,
Option 2 is listed here in the screenshot you sent:
http://janicednelson.com/?attachment_id=2053Can you get back to that page then click the button next to that option? It will guide you through the next steps. You may also need that link I sent earlier, as it will help you complete the steps Google requires.
As for why it was blocked, at some point you chose to block search engines. Google is respecting that and needs your verification to update that setting with them. The screenshot explains what to do next.

Why am I revalidating? The site is already validated. I’ve already added sitemap, set the country, etc. None of those things will correct the errors I sent you. Do you think revalidating this again will help? If so, why? From my research they have nothing to do with it. Has revalidating cleared up these specific errors in the past?
-
I just verified the site as a whole is already validated.
There are two strange pages – not mine – that are linked to my site that I cant access … in order to validate them. They are wordpress properties as far as I can tell. One is a stats page and the other is the gif thingy. I got back to the page in google webmaster and displayed the validation code but cant revalidate the main site because it already is and the two pages are not mine but wordpress admin things…I dont seem to be able to go to their pages and then add code to validate those pages. wordpress people need to do that I think…
