Status: Unlisted

I would like it if there were an “unlisted” option under the status options. I want to make posts that I can simply provide links to that anybody can read (no password required) but that aren’t automatically listed on my blog.
I see others have recommended this feature in the past, but the last one was in 2016, and it doesn’t allow any new replies in order for me to add that I support that feature request or to bump it.
Also, IIUC, you can’t change the status of a post once it’s published; e.g., you can’t change it from public to private or from private to public. It would be nice if you could change visibility options after the post has been published.

That’s a good idea! While the “unlisted” status doesn’t exist, you can achieve the same result by creating a custom blog template with a Query Loop block set to show only some posts, leaving out those that you don’t want to list.
To do this, you would want to activate a theme compatible with the Site Editor. Then, you would go to the Site Editor and edit the template used to generate your blog page (depending on the specific setup, that might be the Blog Home template or the Index template) and edit the Query Loop block settings to show only those posts that have a “blog” tag, and then you could assign that tag to all posts, except those that you want to unlist.
If you want to hide the unlisted posts from other parts of your site, like the archives pages, you would also need to edit other templates, like the All Archives template and any other archives templates that exist on your site.
If you want to prevent the unlisted posts from being indexed by search engines, you’ll want to take some additional steps. Probably the easiest way to do this is with a plugin like Yoast SEO: https://yoast.com/wordpress-noindex-post/.
