Stats Not Working
-
My stats haven’t been updating for about 6-8 hours and I was wondering if anyone else was experiencing the same problem? I generally pull in about 200-275 views a day so I should be seeing some activity, based on the math and statistical averages.
Thank you in advance!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

My stats are also not working, but I don’t have an answer as to why. To test it, I logged out and visited my site, then logged back in. There was no change in my stats. I’m hoping they fix this soon. Good luck to you!

Thanks for responding. I have a friend who is reporting the same issue, so I’m glad it’s just not me. Here’s hoping it works again soon.

Hello there,
I believe stats data maybe cached and take some time to display but I’m not sure of that. Both of you must contact Staff directly as we Volunteers cannot assist with this stats issue. -
Thanks, though the link to contact the staff states that they can’t help members that don’t have paid upgrades due to the volume of requests. Guess I’ll wait it out and see what happens.

For a minute I thought this was an infinite scroll issue, but one look at your blogs told me otherwise. “Angela”, the little sprite that is essential to stats at WordPress.com, is missing from your blogs. She’s usually near the footer or on the side somewhere, and she is nowhere to be found. I think we are going to hear from a lot more people with that problem. It indicates to me that staff are tinkering with the stats, which would indeed take a lot of staff time and reduce time available for support.
I don’t honestly think there is anything you can do other than go to TT’s blog and install one of the alternate stat counters she recommends. She has a roundup of all the best ones that work on WP.com.

Thank you very much for the information. I honestly never noticed this sprite you are referring to. Guess I’ve been too busy blogging. :)
I will look around and see if there are alternate stats available, but I don’t mind waiting a few days if they intend to bring the stat feature back online. Hopefully they will.

Ah, I see the smiley, thank you. It is in the bottom left of my screen, I hi-lighted from top to bottom and saw the screen light up there. I went ahead and logged out and tried viewing a page and the stats register.
Either they are working on the stats off and on or no one is visiting my blog today. It just looked odd to see 275, 285, 262…for a month straight each day, then out of the blue…17.
I’ll hold off and see what happens tomorrow.

You DO have the smiley? I couldn’t see it when I went to your blog.
That 17, that is very odd indeed. How are your referrals from search engines looking? Google is implementing major changes, but if this is the result across WP.com you’d think we would have heard about it before.

I can see the smiley, in the lower left, though I have to hi-lite it with my mouse because the smiley is black and the background is black. Maybe it is registring for me but not others? I am not sure how it all works so I am just guessing at this point.
I have 15 referrals, usually I see over 200. It’s very possible Google is to blame like you said. I went to my google webmasters tools page and checked to see if it was linked properly and it appears to be okay.
In the grand scheme of things I shouldn’t be complaining I suppose, it is a free blog and I’m not paying for anything so I shouldn’t be demanding anything. I hope the matter clears itself up soon though, it was really nice to see who was viewing what and how they got there.
-
If it’s showing for you, that’s fine. It means its there. They always used to make it a contrasting colour, but I see they’ve changed that. I don’t think this is Angela-related now.
I certainly HOPE it’s not Google related, though it sounds like it is. Sometimes they overcorrect things and then the next week they fix things. Fingers crossed they will fix this.
