  Hey all,

  A post I made a bit over a week ago (this one: http://godlikeroy.com/2011/02/23/the-perfect-bone-in-rib-eye-steak/) is receiving a lot of pingbacks. Every morning that I check my email there are 2-3 more and some of the sites seem spammy, for example: “$10 coupon at xxx!” or whatever. Some of them seem fairly legit.

  Is it good to get pingbacks? I have the option to accept or reject them — what should I do?

  If they’re spammy, reject them. Search engines don’t like to see you accepting links from spam factories, and will downgrade you if they see them. Often what happens when one post is getting hammered with spam is that one of the comments in there that’s been approved is from a spammer, so that spammer spams the heck out of that post, thinking the pingbacks will all be approved. Delete that comment or select the option to disable commenting/pings on that post.
