Spam advert in blog.
i went to this site and there is what i would call a spam advert, and you are a winner claim your prize, i am getting a bad warning about it.
The blog I need help with is dribblingpensioner.wordpress.com.
This thread has been tagged for staff attention and hopefully they will respond and get this straightened out for you shortly.
Thank you i don’t mind the advets but this one is wrong for wordpress.
Ok TT will do.
I have spam on my blog? what? I have no idea. How? I’m sorry, but I don’t know how that happened.
I don’t see anything about claiming a prize. What’s going on here?
You don’t see any ads because you’re signed in. Sign out, clear browser cache and cookies and look again. It’s possible the ad is gone now because it was reported.
Thank you. I hope this happens to other blogs and not just mine.
To support the service (and keep free features free), we sometimes run advertisements, and the agreement for this has been in our terms of service since 2006.
We try hard to only run them in limited places. If you would like to completely eliminate ads from appearing on your blog, we offer the No-Ads Upgrade: http://en.support.wordpress.com/no-ads/
As timethief mentioned above, if you see an ad with mature subject matter, please send a screenshot to email@example.com so we can report it to our ad provider.
Thank you all for helping me understand this. I’m aware that WordPress ran ads to keep free features free.
Just curious … did I have spam on my blog because I didn’t or don’t clear my browser cache often?
I’m not sure what you mean. Where did you see spam on your blog? If you’re referring to this thread, the OP was just referring to one of our ads which was rather spammy in nature. We’ll have it removed ASAP.
@macmanx I haven’t seen the spam. The OP did. I was just curious if this spammy ad was in due to the fact that I rarely clean out my browser cache.
Im still learning the ropes here, and I don’t want to do anything wrong. Still trying to understand spam and spammers and what not.
No, it has nothing to do with your cache.
As mentioned above, we sometimes run ads to cover the bills. In this case, the OP noticed that one of our ads was rather spammy and reported it so that we could take action.
Ok, thank you very much for taking the time to explain this to me! I appreciate it!
Have a great day! BTW … Love the job title Happiness Engineer. Brilliant, just brilliant.
Jennifer, its still there but it is safe it will not cause a virus or anything and its not a spammer, if you click it, it will put something small into your pc which will cause pop-ups and maybe slow your PC, they are just a bloody nuisance.
I have a screen shot i’m going to send to support.
Don’t worry about it, i don’t think wordpress knew about it thats why i put the thread up.
@ macmanx, i’m going to upload it to my media library ( try ) so you will find it there, its title is capture.
