some things I can't figure out on WordPress
-
(1)Where on home page can I put a subscribe box for readers to subscribe using their email addresses?
(2) How do I place a pinterest pin icon on my blogposts for pinterest readers to use? I want it for each post.
(3) I set up my blog site a week ago on another platform and I would like to move over to wordpress. First, I would like to make sure that whatever I want to do can be accommodated on wordpress before moving the domain name. What is best way to proceed? -
Hi there,
You can set up subscriptions by email. See here for installing the follow blog widget https://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/follow-blog-widget/
Note this link > Dashboard > Settings > Reading http://theclassycollegiatecom.wordpress.com/wp-admin/options-reading.php
You can also use the Blog Subscription Shortcode https://en.support.wordpress.com/blog-subscription-shortcode/

The only code that will work for Pinterest site verification of a wordpress.comblog is described here https://en.support.wordpress.com/webmaster-tools/#pinterest-site-verification and you must be logged into Pinterest when you are trying to verify?
The Pinterest “Pin It” hover button will automatically appear on your WordPress.com blog if you have added Pinterest as a sharing button on your Settings > Sharing page and if you are also using the “Official buttons” for the style of the buttons (you can change it on that same settings page).
We can hover over any image in a post and pin it if we are logged into Pinterest. If you have enabled the official buttons for sharing, a “Pin It” hover button will automatically appear for your images. https://en.support.wordpress.com/sharing/ All we do after clicking the share button is choose one of the images displayed in the post to pin. It’s as easy as pie. ;)
See how to install the Pinterest browser button:
Google Chrome
Mozilla Firefox
Internet Explorer
Safari
Microsoft Edge

And here’s the Sharing link https://en.support.wordpress.com/sharing/ -

WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums.
Read the differences here very carefully http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
Read Domains: Important Notes Before Upgrading very carefully too.

re: mapping an existing domain
WordPress.com does not accept domain transfers but mapping an existing domain is possible. If you have registered a .wordpress.com blog you log in as Admin under the exact same username account that registered the WordPress.COM blog, and as you own a domain URL already, you can see here for mapping an existing domain. http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/
Domain mapping of an existing domain URL that you already own and purchased elsewhere is not done free of charge. You will have to renew the domain name purchase where you made, it and the domain mapping purchase here, each and every year.
Mapping an existing domain costs $13. annually and a domain name purchase and domain mapping are included in the Premium upgrade bundle.
In order to map to a domain one must have an underlying .wordpress.com sub-domain blog to map from and it does not matter what that underlying .wordpress.com URL is. It does not have to match the domain URL.
See https://en.support.wordpress.com/my-upgrades/
Your billing history will be at Dashboard > Store > Billing History
https://en.support.wordpress.com/billing-history/Your only options for payment are found here http://en.support.wordpress.com/payment/
It can take between 24 – 72 hours for domain name propagation to take place throughout the internet. You can view the DNS changes here > http://www.whatsmydns.net/ What’s important during that stage is to be patient.
