    Good day,

I am wondering if you can assist me. I logged into WordPress and created a site to play around with called breakingthecipher.Wordpress.co and then deleted the site. But now I would like to use it again. Is there any chance this could be recovered or deleted so I can re-use it? There was no content so don’t need anything restored data wise. Just would like access to the WordPress sub domain again for use.

    WP.com: Yes
    Correct account: Unknown

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there,

There is a brief period (30 days) where we are able to reverse site deletions, but in this case several months have passed since that site was deleted, and it has been permanently removed from our servers at this point.

You are welcome to start a new site at any time under your account by going here, but we are not able to restore breakingthecipher.wordpress.com at this late stage: https://wordpress.com/start/

Let us know if you need further assistance or if you have any questions.

Hi thanks for the the response, is it possible to fully delete breakingthecipher.wordpress.com so I can re-use the name by any chance? I don’t need it recovered at all. Just would like to use the same name.

Once 30 days passed after deletion, the site is removed from our servers and the domain gets locked forever, https://wordpress.com/support/delete-site/#reverse-a-site-deletion

    Great thank you.

I missed that when I deleted it.

Or rather didn’t take much note. Any particular reason why the deleted blogs do not get recycled?

    Hi again,

Great question! When a site is deleted, the URL may still be indexed by search engines or linked to from other sites. By not recycling these URLs, we prevent potential confusion and protect the privacy of the original content creator.

For example, it would be alarming to someone if they intended to see a site deleted for privacy reasons (and did not do it as an accident) and then later discovered it was revived by a different account and now shows totally different content.

Instead you may want to consider registering breakingthecipher.com or breakingthecipher.blog as a custom site address. I see that both variations are available! One is provided free under any of our plans if you choose the yearly (not monthly) billing option:

Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.
