    Hi :)

I am trying to change the address to one of my blogs to be the same as the blog title.
When I started the blog( which I never really got started) about 3 years ago I just put in a temporary one.
Now when I try to name it underconstruction.wordpress.com it says that it´s already taken.

Is it really already taken, or am I doing something wrong?

I tried googling the address to see what came up but I didn´t find anything.

It´s a pretty stupid blog name anyway, and I should come up with something better, I´m just wondering if it would be possible if I decide to keep it. :)

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Yes that URL has been registered already https://underconstruction.wordpress.com/

You cannot register a blog URL that has already been registered. There is no expiration date on .wordpress.com blogs unused, reserved or otherwise. If you can make contact on your own with the owner of an unused blog via a contact form or commenting, then providing the are agreeable there is a means of a consenting blog owner to transfer the blog to another username account. http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#transferring-your-blog-to-another-user-or-account

In the case that there is no contact information Staff will not breach the privacy policy and provide you with an email address.

If you are not successful, you can register another blog with a similar name. http://en.support.wordpress.com/register-a-blog/

Or you can register a domain via a domain mapping upgrade and it will not matter what the underlying .wordpress.com address is.

It sounds like you may have registered that blog. When we register a username account the matching blog is reserved for our future use. It cannot be obtained by anyone other than the person who has registered the matching username account.

You have to be logged in as Admin http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#administrator under the exact same username account that registered the blog to access the blog’s dashboard.

Clicking this link should display all your blogs registered under the same username, including the hidden ones: https://dashboard.wordpress.com/wp-admin/index.php?page=my-blogs&show=hidden

If you do not see the blog here http://en.support.wordpress.com/my-blogs/ then
    follow this guide > http://en.support.wordpress.com/my-blogs/#my-blogs-dashboard-visibility

If you have lost your log-in information you can visit https://en.wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword

If required please complete the form for account recovery at this link https://en.wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=recovery and submit it to the Account Recovery Staff so they can contact you by email ie. not on these public support forums which are available to everyone with internet access.

NOTE: If you don’t own that username account then you cannot register the reserved blog. And, if you changed your username then the blog URL will not be available for use under the new username account.

    Ok! Thank you!

I´ll go through all of that, if it is registered to me then that would be good! :)

You’re welcome. Account recovery is done off the forums in private communication with Staff because these threads are public, and the information required to access accounts is private.

I just checked the first link you provided with the site address, and that is not me. Ugh.. I´m a bit confused here..

Maybe it´s better that I just change the blog name and address to something else.

If it’s not a blog that you registered then you can forget that.

The Site title (blog name) and/or the optional Tagline can be changed on the top of this page at any time. > Settings > General … “save changes”.

That is exactly where search engine spiders look for the site title and removing it from there can cause issues with getting your content indexed. Note that the site title (blog name) and blog address URL do not have to be the same but it’s better for SEO (search engine optimization) if they are the same.

We cannot edit any blog URLs. If you want to change the .wordpress.com blog address ie. the URL starting with http:// then you must be logged in as Admin under the exact same username account that registered the blog to do that and the URL you desire must be available. If so, then you can change the URL by using the guide http://en.support.wordpress.com/changing-blog-address/

Be sure to locate the correct page http://en.support.files.wordpress.com/2011/01/dashboard-e1371648470893.png

Changing a URL is a permanent and irreversible act. No changed or deleted blog URLs are recycled here, regardless of who registered and deleted them and no exceptions are made.

You’re welcome and I think that thinking about this for awhile before you make a decision is a good idea. Happy blogging!
