Simple Social Icons not displaying correctly

I have spent quite a bit of time trying to apply some of the solutions mentioned in this forum for these problems , but they are not completely correcting the issues: My icons are stacking vertically and they do not have symbols on them. I don’t know that much about coding, so I would need a pretty simplistic answer. I did input some code in the CSS Custom area for my theme (Spacious), but it does not seem to have any affect. That is a wordpress.ORG software install.

As that site is not hosted here at WordPress.COM, our support docs are not relevant, and you are posting to the wrong support forum.

WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums.
