Searching for blogs
-
What’s the best way to search for other blogs? I have tried searching by tags but never seem to find what I’m looking for. I’m sure there must be something I’m missing!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You should take a look at some tag pages. You can find links to tag pages here: http://wordpress.com/tags

The WordPress.com search engine indexes post, pages, and comments content (body text). Unless entered as text in those contents, blog name, post titles, and post/comment author names are not indexed. http://en.support.wordpress.com/wordpresscom-search/
For Topics (Tags page) searches see http://en.support.wordpress.com/topics/ This is the syntax http://en/wordpress.com/tags/canada
See here http://wordpress.com/#!/read/topics/For Google searches use this format and replace “keyword” with whatever word you wish:
keyword site:wordpress.com/Example search string
Queen Victoria site:wordpress.com

You can set up email subscriptions here > Appearance > Widgets > Follow Blog Widgets by using this guide > http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/follow-blog-widget/If you would like a follow button to appear on the bottom right hand corner of your site for those who do not have WordPress.com accounts go to > Settings > Reading and scroll down to Follower Settings:
These settings change emails sent from your blog to followers.
Logged out users __ Show follow button to logged out users.Checking this will present a follow button to logged out users in the bottom corner of their screen.
You can customize the contact form with multiple fields, change the email address where you’ll be notified, and mark feedbacks as spam from your dashboard. http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact-form/

I see an issue you need to address so your published posts can be found on the Topics (tags and Categories) pages. All reasons for non-appearance of posts on Topics pages can be found here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/topics/#missing-posts
If you have assigned a combined total that exceeds 15 Categories/Tags to your posts, you need to edit and delete. http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/edit-posts-screen/ After removal of the excess categories and/or tags note it may take several days for your posts to begin displaying there.
You are inadvertently spamdexing AKA tag spamming. And, you ought to be more concerned about your posts not appearing and being well ranked on Google and Bing SERPS (search results pages) than not appearing on the WordPress.com Topics pages because it’s search engines that send a significant flow of traffic to blogs and they can choose to bury your content where the sun don’t shine for tag spamming.
The rule of thumb is to assign the least, not the most, combined number of only relevant categories and tags that accurately describe the post content.

Many thanks for your very helpful responses to my query. I hadn’t realised how off track I was with my use of tagging. I’ve just spent quite a lot of time going through all my previous posts re-categorising and re-tagging.Now I just have to drive some traffic there! Maybe my re-tagging efforts will do the job, but I would be grateful for any additional advice on how to get more views. Thank you in advance.
